GuestGallery is made by Muhamed Ožegović (ozegovic.me). This policy explains what the app does with your data. It is short because the app does very little.
The short version
GuestGallery collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking. The app has no servers and makes no network connections of any kind. Nothing you do in the app leaves your phone.
Your photos and videos
GuestGallery never asks for access to your gallery. It has no storage permission and cannot browse your photos.
Instead, it receives only the specific items you hand it yourself, in one of two ways:
- you pick them in Android's own photo picker, or
- you send them to the app from your gallery through Share
For each item, Android gives the app temporary permission to read that one file. The app cannot see anything else on your phone.
Nothing is written to storage. Your selection exists only in the phone's working memory while the app is running. It is discarded when you are done with it, and disappears entirely when the app closes.
Nothing is uploaded. Your photos are shown on your own screen and go nowhere else.
Permissions
The app declares no permissions at all. It has no access to your gallery, camera, microphone, contacts, location, or files.
Ending a viewing session does not ask the app for anything. Android itself asks for your fingerprint or PIN when it unlocks the phone, exactly as it always does.
Sharing marked photos
While viewing, your guest can mark photos with a heart. When you take the phone back, the app offers to share those photos.
If you choose to share, the app hands them to Android's own share sheet and you pick where they go. The app itself sends nothing anywhere. If you do not share, nothing happens to them.
Screenshots
While a viewing session is running, the screen cannot be captured, by a screenshot or by screen recording. This is a protection for you, not a restriction: it means the photos you show cannot be copied off the phone from inside the app.
Children
GuestGallery is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top.
